Heu guys,

How do you make sure they are absolutely clean and tank ready? I know there is a way without just putting them. I want to kill anything that doesnt belongs in a fish tank that lives on these plants..

Thanks

Also I know they are outlawed here in Texas, but in the local river there are giant water lettuce everywhere. Tons of big hornwort too. It's like a gold mine for us fish tank lovers.

Try a bleach dip.
Also are you joking about collecting illegal plants or are you not the brightest light bulb in the pack? If you get caught with those plants then you'll get hit with a fine and possibly jail time. Also there have been people on here that have moved into new states with old fish that are illegal in the new state and people from THIS SITE snitched on them and they got hit with massive fines. If you get them and get caught then don't come crying here, you'll get no sympathy.

LOL!....tellin like it is.

Hahaha, jail time for taking some water lettuce out of a river! You've got some strict laws over the pond. Hahaha, i've not laughed as much in ages.

I may have been over exaggerating with jail time for taking a few plants but fines are more then likely if he gets caught and authorities take the appropiate measures.
Also yes, we do have some idiotic laws.

The wardens out here don't usually fine us for the stupider laws...

You can place the plants in a outdoor tub rooted in sand for a couple weeks, this starves out most parasites, don't change the water much either, however since your going to the river why not collect some wild aquatic insects as feeders?

There have been times when someone had an illegal asian arowana and the cops treat it like a drug bust. Anyone have an example of this happening? It was an illegal fish but still...

Aros are one thing, water lettuce is quite another, still if your worried see about getting a aquaculture or similar permit, easy to get out here

Meh, I've said my piece and if he gets them then that's on him. Not gonna send the law after him but not gonna be happy either. I'll stop talking about it now and let others say their bit.
