Live rock in freshwater

This begs the question...could one run a FW tank with nothing but rocks and a couple powerheads?

If the rocks are porous, I don't see why not. There is one member one here who has a pair of juruense catfish and I think an arowana in a tank with no filter, just a bed of Biomax as a substrate and some powerheads. Can't remember who it is off hand. The fish are as healthy as can be though.
 
ok here is the thing like what was said you cant yous dead coral or base rock in a fresh water tank it will mass with the ph as well as there is no way to get all the salt out of it the only rock that is pritty much the same as but for fresh water is lava rock extremely porus and works great with fresh water tanks hope this help i have seen people kill a hole tank by putting "unseasoned base rock" in there tank
