After a lot of research I've decided to simply go the FOWLR route instead of the FO route I was going to attempt at first. Question is...

Can anyone recommend the best place online to purchase quality live rock? My local options are limited (only one fish store and very limited saltwater options) and I would like to explore my online options. Liveaquaria has a 45 pound box of Fiji for $150ish plus $65ish 2 day shipping, and that is still cheaper than purchasing locally.

Anything else to look for in regards to purchasing live rock would be appreciated. It's for a 29 gallon biocube.

Most likely you will not fit all 45 lbs in the cube, so the rest will be wasted. Depending on the rock type will determine the amount you can fit. I usually fit around 20 lbs of fiji rock in a 29 cube and around 15 lbs of Vanuatu Rock in the cubes. If you buy Fiji have it shipped fedex/UPS ground. It takes 3-4 weeks to get in the states on a boat, so what is another week to your door.

They have a 22 lb box option as well. They claim they fly this stuff in weekly to prevent the weeks on a boat thing. Is a reputable site just unsure why is so much cheaper than the $9.99/lb local option.

Flying it in is expensive. I have a supplier that flies it in every once and a while, but it is more expensive. If you get the box and the rock is black and smells like an ammonia factory, it was on a boat. I have never bought from them, so I do not know what they do.

Not sure where in North Dakota you live, but it can get pretty expensive to ship to LFS that are not in or near a major city.

buy dead rock, its cheaper and then just buy a piece of live rock to seed the dead rock in a couple of weeks your dead rock will be live.

bulk reef supply sells the best dead rock online for probably the cheapest price.
