Somehow, I doubt the Society for the Conservation of Ocean Rock has had any success getting its cause approved by congress.

I understand that and just want to make it clear I am not talking about take coral just ROCKS. I would not want to hurt anything or anyone.

Well you would be violating law and most likely local fishing regulations in doing so and putting yourself in risk of fines, tickets, or jail I would check your local authorities and state laws and do it properly and get a license or bit the bullet and pay the extra money instead of putting yourself and the environment at risk.

So totally illegal wherever you are. I have a permit that allows me to keep Florida local fish at any size, as well as any invertebrate entity. I am also allowed to keep 6 plugs of seagrass per year. However, live rock is a no-no and I would face jail time, or some fine that is definitely over $1,000 (althoguh I don't know the specific amount).

Collecting live rock is a no no, I had to throw back a piece I hooked while fishing in Florida lol.

Also, unless you are planning on keeping sub-tropical species, the organisms in the rock collected from CA water may croak at higher temps found in a tropical marine tank.

Hence the reason why you dont ever see , "CALI LIVE ROCK ON SALE!!"

it comes from fiji and other places for a reason. I wouldnt risk it for your own fish sake. I dont think you would ever get caught its just a big risk of killing all your fish or ruining an established tank....

...... dump freshwater on it and retreat it lol , new liverock
