Base Rock is not macro rock or live rock - it is heavier and far less porous and usually has very little flat surfaces for attaching corals - it is by definition foundation rock that supports the LR.
Macro rocks are dry rocks that were in the ocean at one time. More porous than base and usually has flat surfaces.
Aqua cultured rock is man-made from cement and then sunk in the ocean or held in holding tanks for up to several years.
