Somewhat of a joke. No real reason, just because mosquitoes are notorious to spread disease to humans.

A lot of pellets come with fillers such as soybean meals and starch which are quite unnecessary and not really that nutritious. While it does add up to the protein percentage, some fish lack the enzymes necessary to digest the starch. Even then, the digestion of starch can produce gas in the GI tract of the fish and potentially cause swim bladder disorders particularly with round bodied fish where the swim bladders (cranial and caudal lobes) are compressed due to the shape of the fish.

some fish don't have a swim bladder.. like my stingray...

what long term issues do u speak of? do u have any evidence to back up this statement?

also that's why i said its good to feed a variety...also some pellets are high in fiber...

however, im not sure if u read my big post a page or two back..

im all for everything...i just think feeders should be fed in moderation and so should pellets but no to the same extent.

also i love feeding earth worms and prawn to my rays and bichirs..

to be honest my rays and bichirs diet comprises of....

10% mysis shrimp
10% earthworm
20-30% prawn
50-60% hikari massivore and carnivore..

this is just a rough estimate..
some weeks i may only feed pellets or raw prawn

again variety is key

My ideas exactly, maybe I'm not explaining well enough.
Those problems arise if you feed a strictly pellet diet. -Obviously not healthy. And low quality pellets for that matter. I'm not sure of the ingredients in hikari, maybe someone could post.
