There is a nit of distortion in some of them but if you click on them they will open in a new window with the right size.

Old pic of my female bearded

Iguanas have always held a special place in my heart. I used to have this enormous, gorgeous female iguana, she had her own room. One day my mom and I were out, and I guess my dad must have let her out, since we sometimes did let her roam when we were with her in the house, and there was a window open at the other end of the house, and I guess he forgot about her, assuming she was safe, but she somehow found her way there and got out. Never saw her again. :(

Just out of curiosity, what's the protocol with handling venomous lizards? Same precautions as handling venomous snakes?

Nice pics. Your iggy has one hell of an overbite.
Yeah, that is from some MBD from before I stole him from the museum. He was an exhibit at the museum I worked at but he had a wire cage and the kids would poke and pick at him stressing him and causing him to miss meals which lead to MBD among other problems. I asked my boss's boss to either take him off exhibit or get him a better enclosure where the kids couldn't pick at him but they said no. So after some thought, a coworker and my boss decided to mark him as dead and sneak him out one day. He ended up with me and he is doing much much better now.

That is a shame about the iguana. It seems difficult to get a good one that is nice and tame and there certainly is not a replacement for them when you lose them. They can be as affectionate as dogs. Julio for instance will poop on my bed every time I leave the cage open and only when I leave for more than a day. I can let him out all day and night as long as I am home and he won't even try but if I leave and stay out that night I come home to a nice pile of nasty on the sheets. He also likes to climb in my hair and if I sit down long enough, he will climb up on top of me...

As for venomous lizards, I would recommend thick gloves, patience and common sense. That is about all you need for them. Beadeds are pretty chill to start with though.

Well I'm glad to hear he's in better hands now. :)

I had an iguana for 13 years that I raised from a hatchling. Iggi was super tame and never gave me any issues. I miss him (actually he was a she I found out later) but I don't think I'd ever keep another one. They require a lot more work than one might think. Funny how yours pooped on your bed. Mine made the habit of pooping UNDER my bed when I left her loose before she became litter trained.
