Yeah I do like the green one. Those are really nice pics.

Whereabouts did you find these guys? I only ever see the odd slow worm and grass snakes where I am and that's only when I'm fishing. Great shots, isn't it illegal to disturb these guys though? I think someone told me it was. Although if you aren't catching them then you probably aren't disturbing them :P

Why would it be illegal to disturb them? Catching them is a different matter but disturbing??
I dont see how you could fine somebody each time they sit down to one not realising its there... lmao

Man that's some cool shots davo........I need to go herping around here pretty soon.........

Just look in the right places, most reptiles are about just got to look for them :) Where are you? a good idea is to become involved at your local ARG.
It isn't illegal to be photographing them, protected by law in Great Britain against being killed, injured or sold or traded in any way, as are adders, slow worms and grass snakes (unless your in island and you are not allowed to possess or disturb them).

Sand lizards and smooth snakes on the other hand are protected under British and European laws against being killed, injured, captured, possessed or sold/traded. They are also protected from any kind of disturbance and destruction of habitat. So i wouldn't be able to take pictures of them. I am however under licence to capture/photograph/survey GCN's.

there is still a lot of bashing of reptiles in the UK (mainly adders) and so the cause had made it illegal to even go near them and disturb some species (obviously with intent) anywhere that has sand lizards or smooth snakes are protected anyway, but people are pushing for adders to get the same type of treatment. However you can keep adders in the UK, but you need a lot of proof its captive bred, and not UK. They are sensitive creatures, and are in decline throughout the UK.
