I have been feeding my bass on goldfish feeders for the last couple of years, but want to try and get him on a better diet.

What kind of food would be good for him?? I tried to feed him worms several times in the past, but he showed no interest in them.
I want to try and get him onto non-live feed if possible. Do you think he may take frozen freshwater shrimps if he was hungry enough??

Also, as I work away from home alot, my wife has to feed him for me, so anything wiggly is out of the question.

He hates me right now, because I have not fed him for a full week, trying to starve him so that he'll start eating dry/other food.

He is a Northern strain Largemouth Bass (Black Bass).

Thanks for the info. With him being fed on goldfish for so long, how long do you think it will take before he will start eating frozen shrimps?? I know there is no hard rules for time, but how long from your experiences?? I don't want to starve him to a point of illness.

you could try by starting with silversides or live ghost shrimp . Worked with a Lionfish i had years ago.

i dont think it should take too long. a couple days probably i dont think bass are too picky. since you can catch them with a variety of bait.

You could also start by combining live and dead food, like stuffing a shrimp through a goldfish and dropping it in still wiggling. He'll learn to like the flavor and the transition could be gentler.

I believe those are tiny foods for newly hatched and small fish. As a temporary thing, shrimp from the deli will work. Not long-term, though, as it has thiaminase which breaks down essential nutrients, primarily thiamine, and causes systemic deficiencies over time. It's fine for the weaning process, though, just keep it rolling and switch from shrimp to other foods ASAP.
