Last time I had my fish refuse to eat. I left it 3 days without food. After the 3rd day, they will pretty much eat anything you throw at them.

I am not trying to mean here. Just that they do not tend to eat when they first get into the tank and need time to adjust. So why waste the food and clog up the water.

Give them time to adjust and they will eat when they are ready.

Bass = eating machine.

Oh.. If you have the water too cold, they will not eat as much also. I had mine at 78 degrees. That will usually give them the sense it's summer time and summer is a time where they tend to eat a lot.

Leads me to another question, I was told not to heat the water. I live in AZ but the water is between 72 and 68 is this ok?

Sorry if i have allot of questions but these fish are important to me and I want to give them the best chances I can give them. Some might say I am to new to have bass but I will do any thing to make them happy

i would feed them very little in that 10 gallon, you will bring your water quality down.

i dont know if you saw my other post, but i hope you are testing your ammonia, and nitrite regularily

I am testing but these are in a 60 gallon.

for the bass i would feed pin head size crickets to get them eating at the surface and gradually switch out with pellets, or put other fish in with them that are already weating pellets and they will soon follow, i have used both methods with great success

I have a 6" LMB, I feed him 2 nightcrawlers a day or a 2.5" flathead minnow, which we trap in the stream behind my apartment. I just buy the worms from Walmart, or get minnows from the bait store if we cant catch any. He's doubled in size in about 2 months. I keep the water at room temp (no heater), which is around 65-70. Not a cheap or clean fish.

from my experiences, don't get them spoiled with live foods while they're little.

get them trained on pellets right away (the smaller the fish the easier). don't feed them anything but pellets and soon they'll give.

once they are steady on a pellet diet you can give them live foods once in a while as a treat.
