Ive tried to look it up in the thread archives but I keep coming across arguments and debates,so Im just gonna ask, sorry if its already been gone over:

if purchased at a similar and very small size, could a p.bass grow up with a LM bass?I have an empty 240 gallon tank on its way its really scratched up but its free.

I always wanted to try P.bass but also really want to try a LM bass.does it have to be one or the other?

I wouldn't do it. LMB have lower temp requirements than pbass. They would be really jumpy at temps that pbass need.

Chad

alright thanks nobody seems to disagree so I'll take your word for it.

out of curiousity,if it has to be one or the other, who thinks I should get a pbass and who thinks I should get a LMbass?(I cant make up my mind)

Well I like my LMB because he hass an awsome personality and you don't waste all that money and electricity heating the tank. He is just a straight up cheap fish...BUT LMB seem to take less kindly to tankmates than Pbass do.

Chad

Put it this way,as previously stated,if costs are NO issue i.e. heating......Then Peacock ALL THE WAY!! They are the same in mannerisms, actually the P.Bass are more compatible with other fish as i found NONE of my LMB's would tolerate other life forms being in his tank.I hated it,i wanted two so bad but constant conflicts.DeiselMack's setup wouldn't be possible if it were LMB in there, and HIS is a 240.Beautiful no? Do that instead. :headbang2

my friend has a lmb and a peacock bass in his 180, lmb eats way more and is always lookin for food. out competing the pbass if u ask me. but there livin together. in 82* temp tank... i've kept my old lmb at 82* water for over a year as well.

I don't know if it's a certain strain of LMB they got up here in Massachusetts or what but i had to go thruogh at least 11 Juviniles trying to house more than one.Either the current Bass would start it or the new one would, there was never rest:( You guys that have multiple LMB setups i envy.Anyway,Cichla is the way to go,can't beat the nuchal hump or the super red/orange breasts they get.LMB's are pale compared to the mighty Cichla.

I have had a peacock bass with a largemouth, for about a year now, currently have 2 lmb one small one in a 75 gallon witha peacock of similar size, and a larger one in a 220 witha xingu pike and a large ornate poly. Largemouth are best kept by themselves, meaning no other bass present in the tank, they are fine with peacocks but are more aggressive then them. If you are interested in keeping a school of bass smallmouth or spotted are a better choice. As for water requirements largemouth bass have been introduced everywhere in the world, including tropic places, they just will grow faster and not live as long as ones living say in maine.
