LM bass with P.Bass?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
when my orino was smaller like aorund 4-5" i had a lmb the same size.. and the lmb ruled the tank always beatin up on the pbass.. so i had to give away the lmb.

LMB can tolerate very high temp waters, one of the most adaptable FW fish. I kept one in the upper 80's for a while and he was fine. I'd say go for it, never know unless you try.

Not to d-rail this thread, but have any of you who've keep pbass or lmb ever kept them with Dovii? If you have what was the result? I have not had any experience keeping pbass or lmb, so if you think it's a bad idea! Why?

the lmb wouldn't like the higher temperatur requirements of the pbass. pbass like it in the lower to mid 80's. If the water is under 78, the pbass will die.

Have not done it but I would think it is a very bad idea. Dovii are super agressive and have some pretty amazing chompers. Bass really aren't that agressive to fish of equal size so really if the dovii is as big as it the dovii would probably tear it to pieces... Plus bass don't really have teeth and don't even hurt when they bite so I don't know how good they could defend themselves against some dovii chompers. Check this out...

Note...no teeth really.

{quote}If the water is under 78, the pbass will die. Then i guess all those ones in the canals of flordia are dead then. They can handle temps lower than 78 degrees they live in parts of brazil and argentina that the water get below 78 degrees.

My bass is much better behaved in colder water. When I had it in the warm water, he was spastic.

This is the first time I have ever flamed but here it comes.
those of you who are saying that LMB require lower temps are down right wrong.
LMB are the NUMBER ONE most widespread freshwater fish in the world. Thus dubbing it also one of the most adaptable. I have caught large mouth bass in golf course lakes that are in the high 80's. I have mine in a community tank with a silver aro and cat fish and barbs and he is very calm. They do NOT require lower temps and easily thrive in high temps. And though they may become agrresive they have extremly good chances of getting along with others. (unless it fits in their mouth) :)

I think the best answer to this is that the Aggresion problem will be Specimen Specific. For i have had non stop problems with compatability with said Species.

If you are worried about the LMB in warm water, get a florida strain LMB. They are from higher climates.

I would not risk the Pbass with the LMB. The LMB cost nothing.........
I wonder what would happen if LMB's were introduced into the amazon.........
