Ever had your male beat on your female? I know I have, and Ive came up with a solution that has worked twice now. To me this almost definately proves the intelligence of fish. Basically, I have a convict pair that has been happily paired for about a month. At first I had to use my special "treatment" to get the male to cooperate as he was beating on my female.
Now today I changed substrate from gravel to sand and moved the tank. Upon doing so I put the pair back in the tank and the male immediately started harrasing the female. So I took him out and began the treatment. Basically I net him out, and chuck him in my RD tank for half an hour.
You can flame me if you want.
So after about half an hour of being chased around by my RD I get the con back out and put him in with the female. As soon as I put him back there was zero violence and they dug a pit together. Now cmon, tell me that fish hasnt figured out that if he doesnt play nice my RD wont play nice
