My school of 7 clown loach's (all 5-8 inch) have gotten ick. I have tried bring water temp to 86 and added 1 teaspoon of salt per 5 gallons of water. Also have done numerious water changes. Nothing seems to be working. Now their appitite is being affected and I need to help. Thanks for any help that can be given.

How long have you been treating them? I've treated mine with salt before and the ich was eliminated after two weeks.

That's not enough salt. I raise the temp to a minimum of 86 and add 1 teaspoon per gallon. Haven't lost a fish to ich in years.

No, just dose to 1 teaspoon to gallon, turn the heat up, and leave it.

Do like Ron Popeel, set it and forget it. By doing waterchanges, you are removing the salts.

What causes the ich? I had the same problem with ich but these loaches never had ich before. I have had them for 2 months now.

Should I move the three loaches to a QT tank then treat them with Kordon Rid Ick, Salt, and Raise temp?
Ich does not appear magically out of nowhere. It is caused by introduction of unquarantined specimens. Do not move your loaches. Treat all your fish in the main tank with salt and heat.
