18+ years. I call them "will fish " or inheritance for my son. LOL They have great longevity if they make it past the 2" size.

Great looking group of clowns :)

what is the secret to grow them at such massive size? what kind of food do you feed them?

Well done! Just have to love big fat clowns

Would you please share your experiences on growth after reaching the 8" mark? Very rare to see these sizes unless they are wild imports.

The fastest growth in size was from 5"-7". Some of the loaches were in a 180g tank and when I moved them all together in the 300g the 5" clowns had a growth spurt and added 2" in under 2 years. They also are fed twice a day with a huge variety of foods. I added Thera a to their regular food. Once they reached the 8" mark they slowed down, but do keep growing. Only problem being is the smaller ones catch up and compete for head of the pack. Or a better standing on the social ladder. This part can get a little worry some as they sound as though the glass is breaking , lock barbels, and occasionally scratch each other. Some fights go off and on for over a week until they figure out who won. Water changes 30% twice a week and tons of hiding places and natural light only. I also keep dither fish that get very excited at feeding time currently there are 20-2" buccochromis nototaenia this encourages the clowns to come out quickly so they can get their fill. For 3 months of the year I add a stream pump to change things up a bit. I try not to fuss too much with their environment. I think the larger the numbers of clowns the better. Hope this helps.
