I would like to have Loaches with Fronts. However I want to maintain a high PH for the fronts with crushed coral. Will that hinder and or kill the loaches eventually? Also is high PH nessasary for the Fronts to achieve optimum color?

Thanks

I have been trying to introduce some clown loaches into my Moba Frontosa tank. I bought 5 and have 2 left. The smaller ones take the transition badly. try to get ones that are about 2 inches they tend to be a little smaller.

When you introduce them to the tank you have to acclimate them to the higher ph of the frontosas. You can either use the drip tube for a couple hours or add a cup of water every 5 minutes for an hour or two. Good luck.

I am pretty determined to get them to live together as I have heard of many people doing it.

Go over to cyphos.com and you will get some good information about what is good with the Frontosa.

How big are your frontosa? What kind of Frontosa do you have?

Mine are only about 2".

My advice: Stick with synos instead of loaches. There is no way loaches will thrive for a long time in water conditions required by frontosas. Both species live in different ends of water chemistry so if either of their water chemistry is met, the other suffers. This is why I do not like the idea of loaches being placed with African cichlids. Too many different variables to consider the mix. Check the sticky thread for loach basics.
