Knee deep in fish
so im freakin out i have a 15 yr old clown loach two 8or9yr old dojos a tiny sun cat a baby geophagus and a baby silver aro thats growing out for my 300gal so i got home tonight and my aro has ick my water params are good temp is 80 the tanks a 65gal w/ a fluval 405 and an ac110 lots of live plants and coral life lights.im moving the temp up now and have added salt anything else i can do?

Not that I can think of... that should be all. :) What did you raise the temp up to?

84 is fine. Keep salt treatment for at least two weeks. In the meantime, feed them plenty of foods to boost their immune system. If you can temporarily supplement their food with vitamins, a wise decision though not really necessary but can prevent a turn to the worst. Do plenty of water changes as well to keep the water clean. Be sure to dissolve salt first before adding as you have bottom dwellers in it.

id hate to lose my plants but my fish are the reason i have plants so if i kill the plants to save the fish im ok with that. thanks for the input guys

You also may want to consider adding some added current/airation while you have the temp is elevated. Couldnt hurt to do extra gravel vacs as often as possible also, just to try and remove as much of the ich as you can while it is in its dormant state before hatching.

I have personally had to treat my loach tank a few times like this and have never lost a fish. Good luck, hope everything turns out well!

How often do you guys recommend adding salt? My new CL's got ick a few weeks after getting them.

I used some ick medication (malachite green), did water changes every other day and added salt when I did water changes. Ick went away in about 4 days. Was this the right approach? I'm gonna be moving these guys to a bigger tank soon and I'm worried they'll get ick again.

Why do these fish have to be so cool but so delicate?? :irked:
