I have a lobster in my RBP-tank to clean up the mess my RBP's make. But I would like to put in a crab too. Is that possible? Does anyone have any experience with a lobster and a crab in one tank?

Greetings from rainy Holland...

A freshwater lobster? You means a crayfish?

I think all crabs need brackish water anyway.

Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think that we have different words for a lobster and a crayfish  But anyways, I think I mean a crayfish then. It's freshwater for sure...

i had a bluecray and a red clawed crab in with africans for a long time. they were fine together unless one came into the others territory. But once the cray molted it was game over and the africans ate him. Sadly the crab jumped ship and was found in my living room lol.

I had the same thing with my channa gachua. Didn't realise how well strong they are but he opened the lid with his jumps. It happened overnight and I found him under my living room seat. It survived, but it gathered a lot of dust on his adventure :D

Ah okay, translation problems. :D It just that there so many people around here that refer to them as lobsters.

What kind of crabs? Red claw and fiddler crabs do not work in fish tanks. They should be in brackish water, and if you cant provide that...they need a land area at the least (idealy with sand substrate). Its why they escape...they go right up the sealant. You are wasting your time if you cannot provide that...

ive had fiddler crabs in my tank for almost a year and they are both very active and healthy

ive had a crayfish and thn i put in a red clawed crab one day. the next day the crab and crayfish lost some legs and the crayfish list an pincher. bad combo including that rcc are brackish water

There ARE freshwater crabs. s/he is not limited to the common brackish ones so please stop going on about it.

They cray and the crab will fight. the crab will lose.
