LOL petey the pirate huh, LOL. Well these particular shirts are not for the general public, they will be for crew and volunteers involved in this capaign only. The shirts that will be available to the public are more generic. And anyone who crews up for this particular campaign is expected to know (either beforehand, or with our briefing) the history of the place, the geographical distribution, and the resident animals. NO, the design will not be carried over to every campaign, each campaign will have it's own unique design, never duplicated, and each will depict not only the main animals of our mission, but also historical symbolism. By incorporating the scroll and "Pirate" lettering, we are not necessarily "Honoring" pirates that raided these areas, LOL, what it stands for is simple:
We are pirates in our own right, on our own quest. It is our mission and our duty to protect the animals of this area, and in doing so it may very well mean taking the property of the offenders - nets, hooked lines, etc. We will defend these animals in peace or in hostility, and if it comes down to it, we are fully prepared to commandeer or sink another's vessel by either the orders of local government, or by defense.
If we were to put a pirate ship in the design, I can see how it might be a bit goofy and totally un-connected, but by having the scroll and that particular lettering, it is a duel meaning - 1. brings a piece of the history into view, but 2. stands for a new kind of pirate, a change of what was to what is.
And like i said, this design will only be available to the artist, the crew and officers, and the volunteers who work on this particular mission, and a more generic one will be offered for sale on the website for the general public and other OA members.
