Loisellei and JD in a 90?

No on the Capintis. They are extremely aggressive IME. Tank destroyers. E-mail Rapps and get the loisellei. Shipping should be very cheap as NY is bordering NJ where Jeff is located.

i agree on the carpinte.ime they can be brutal.

My male Loisellei is separated for now because he's a super-killing machine and destroyer of fish. Even my female Loisellei would make mincemeat of a JD. She's quick, mean, and bad to the bone too...both are wild caught purchased from Rapps. (Now if only I could get them to breed lol)

Seems like it would need to be a species only tank if I go with Loisellei. Boy this is getting more frustrating by the day...don't know what to do with this tank and feel like I'm grasping at straws now.

I really don't want to start the dreaded "what would you put in a 90 gallon?" thread

I could go back to an earlier idea and grab some Mextico Blue's from Rapps...Just don't know what to do

The only way I could keep live plants in with my haitiensis is to use some that can be literally TIED to the driftwood. They move an insane amount of gravel...

A 90gal really limits you to a breeding pair of the more aggressive CA cichlids. And that's still no guarantee that a male wouldn't kill off his mate. I lost my 7" female carpintis 'escondido' to her 10" mate back in May. Gotta be careful with most of these fish!

I have Anubias Barteri and Nana growing in the cracks of my driftwood. I also have amazon swords which are planted inside the 2 cut outs in a rock I have. It lays on its side and makes the perfect planter. They can't get at the roots, and don't even try
