The blotch will accurately sex cyanos/carpintis' roughly 90% of the time, so it does mean something.

I suppose it helps, but it's only 90%...You're looking for a mate and with 2 males or 2 females nothing will happen. Use the blotch and shape as a guideline, then look at the tube to be sure...
