Does anyone have experience with these? I've never seen one in real life, but they look beautiful. Any thoughts on their compatibility with regular Oscars?

I have mine in with two other oscars and have no problems. Only time mine got ripped fins is when I netted her to put her in the 180 gallon tank.

Why are they so rare to find in LFS's? At least in New England where i live

It probably has to do with how hard oscar breeding is in general. It is difficult to find a male and female oscar.

Oscars aren't that hard to breed. Just let a group if like 4-5 grow out together until you get a pair. Angels are hard as heck to sex but very easy to breed once you have a pair
