would long nose or short nose gar be alright with a pair of pacu?

Pacus are massive and playful. Gars are fragile. I've had a pacu break a florida gar's jaw before. I, personally, won't be trying it again.

make sure your gar is big enough to take care of itself...since the pacus are fast growers you want your gar to have the head start. Plus if its too small your gar may be split like a twig by the pacus mouth if not taken cared of right...but it should work...but its still risky with a more fragile fish species. Pacus are more robust and powerfull fishes that can break open a hard shelled nut and can go easily with a gar as a twig

not a good idea. i had 2 pacu with my longnose and they ripped the gars fins badly.

yea figures with those ugly teeth of theirs...they really need braces

lol. pacus are not amoung my favotite fish. all mine ever did was steal my gars food and nip at their fins. but i guess they are ok if they have their own tank.

ill just have to put them in the other pond then i guess

how about an alligator gar they seem like they can defend themselves

really? at the zoo here they have pacu, redtail, catfish and longnose gar all in the same enclosure,

oh, but in the pic i took, the fins look a bit ripped
