you may be my new hero LOL.... I have always heard that was a bad idea but i guess it can be OK how long they been in the same tank?

thats a bit of a stretch I'd think but you could do a jardini or an asian in an 18" wide

I agree--jars and asians don't get quite as large as silvers do.. If you go with a jar be prepared to keep only him in that 125 due to aggressive behavior when they mature..

Rock on,
Chris

Cool some real life experiance.... no issues with the half amazing mans TWO aros in a 125?

nope.

What about african aros?

I would love to keep an aro but my 18" depth(90 gallon std 48x18x24) is limiting me to Poly's! I also am from the states and asians are still a no no, but I would get one in a second as they are absolutely gorgeous, I want on in RED!

africans get just as big and they EAT ALOT.

^THEY DO EAT ALOT^ My Afro eats one cube tray of Frozen Food every 3 DAYS and he is only 9"....(this equates to 10 trays a month) And yes they top out at 22"-30"

And for me I'd say a footprint of at least 72"x32"

Funny thing is, while SA arowanas grow longer they don't bulk up as much as their shorter body cousins. This makes it easier for SA arowanas to turn as opposed to Jars and Asians. Even though they're shorter, their bulk makes their body rigid.
