So the fish is doing great. Still growing (nothing insane, slower growth due to how I feed), and is still really healthy and active.
One small annoyance is that although he still has that doglike personality to a degree, all he really does these days is wait up by the top of the tank to be fed if he senses I'm in the room. It's a bit annoying because he'll literally just camp there instead of swimming around. He'll literally wait for hours if I sit on the couch, and in the corner of the tank closest to where I sit. He's getting fed enough, I know that for sure, he's just entirely greedy and only cares about food lol.
I may start "playing" with him and try to interact more with him outside of feedings. Any suggestions are welcome.
