The Northern Longear would be perfect in a 55 gallon ( one male a couple females) a central mo Longear you could only keep one male and maybe 2 females in a 55g (its the most aggressive and has a cichlid looking hump on the spawning male). There are 3 to 6 subspecies of Longear ......the Northern is the smallest and most docile (much like the Orangespotted Sunfish). Thats the same as our central Mo type, longear ......they are beautifull fish , but get to 6-8 inches and have the "hump" and the males get very territorial during breeding .
