I have to move my wolf/tank back home from school. Can I reuse the gravel that is in there since it was only purchased three months ago? How long does gravel last for? I've heard roughly 6-8 months, is this incorrect? If anything I might pick up another 20lb bag of gravel to put in the tank since it could use a little more. thx for the help.

last i heard rocks didnt have a shelf life.

agreed. Where did you hear gravel goes bad?

gravel is good until erosion and weathering turn it into sand. If you plan on your tank lasting a couple of millenia, put some rocks in - they will turn into gravel.

I was looking on the back of the bag of gravel I bought...

Shelf life: Approx. 500,000 years

You should be good to go!

After a few years, coatings or coloring will start to come off,but it will still be gravel.

6-8 months would be for planted substrates, which lose their nutrients, in some cases as fast as 6 months, and sometimes as long as 3 years.

lol....ok I guess I just got the plans and gravel confused then. That's good to know that it lasts forever though. That would be a pretty expensive misunderstanding.
