I personally do not want one, nor do I want a clown knife in general (for now), but can the longfinned ones... swim? I'd imagine it's something like bettas or other fish that normally rely on specific fins for mobility but knives are kind of a weird one based on the way they swim. I have seen videos of babies swimming and they kinda looked like they were tumbling around and couldn't control themselves. That's another thing, are they even able to hit adulthood?

Can't say I've heard of longfin clown knives.
Do you mean these???
If so, this is a completely natural and distinct species, meaning yes, they are able to hit adulthood.

nope, i mean the mutated line bred ones with veiled oscar like fins

Same here, I had two pictures of them on my old computer but let's just say it's my old computer for a reason, I'll definitely post if I find them again

About any species of fish can throw this genetic mutation, don’t see y it would affect their health or mobility in any way especially in captivity. Doesn’t have to be line bred either. Its just a 1 off mutation like albinism that occurs naturally. Fish keepers didnt create it… they took advantage of it…

I know, one example I like to compare the mobility factor in any longfinned fish to however is bettas, which is especially applicable in this case as knives also use a specific set of fins to move, as things like dumbo bettas are known for dying of nothing but pure exhaustion at young ages as they cannot carry the weight of the upsized pectoral fins, which bettas naturally use as their main source of locomotion. I don't plan on getting a long finned clown knife but it makes me wonder since I've only seen babies.
