Longest one I've ever seen was around 57 inches which is just under 5 foot. I've seen records of them slightly above 5 foot.

Over the years I've meet with and talked to many of the most skilled Gar fishermen and also researchers that have worked with Gar. Nowhere can anyone seem to find one at 6 foot.. 4 foot ones are really uncommon and are generally a once in a lifetime catch. So I really have to ask you... Are you sure on your measurements?

As a note: the 6 foot record caught in Texas is not thought to be a Longnosed gar anymore. There is very strong evidence it was an Alligator X Longnosed hybrid.
