longnose,shortnose?

keep in mind sizes are also temperature dependent...even 18" in the first year is a bit of a stretch for the typical longnose in the home aquaria (heated pond is more likely to achieve this). right around 16" is probably more realistic, and that's keeping it warm and very well fed (essentially power-feeding at some stages) in the first year--

I have a longnose gar that doesn't seem to grow anymore. It's still at 16" and it's about 16 months now. Hard to feed as well when there are other aggressive eaters in the tank. That's why mine is hand feed every time so it can have it's share. Compare to other gars they also have a hard time taking it's food in inside the mouth.
