Nice specimen there, even at 3" it already has nice mass to it.
What do you feed it and how often do you do water change? I would like to get that amount of growth in my fishes as well.

No he is not a 'red Isletas' just a regular barred midas with a red sheen over his body. It's weird though because his fins are a deep purpley red. I normally see just grey with speckaling. If he were the red isletas he would have tons of festae color red on his head.
He will give Big Head a run for his money because this is his child i think. I got him from Rapps who had Cichlid Scene Big Head offspring.
I try to feed my guy everything Krill, Bloodworm cubes, Brine shrimp cubes, shrimp, peas, but what he likes most is his Hikari cichlid staple he likes Hikari Gold but not as much as the Staple. I change his water twice a week each 50%. Also I have a theory if you wrestle with the fish you know like get him angry and stick your hand in the tank and wrestle like hold his nuchal hump, grab his sides etc his Nuchal hump gets bigger. He had always had a semi small hump but after I started wrestling with him his hump shot up to a golf ball. Everytime I feed him I touch his nuchal hump first and then give him food lol.

Well it's not like I am joking around because you know how you pu a mirror in front of an RD, FH, or Midas their nuchal gets bigger well same concept as that you get the fish angry and he will make him self look more dominant. Hey it worked for me because he never used to have a nice nuchal until I started.
