Here in Florida where I live they are everywhere. Wouldn't be surprise if the folks down here ate them.

I gotta ask some locals. Maybe I can find out if they taste like lobster.

I could see a pseudacanthis or another carnivorous pleco specie tasting like lobster, but a common algae eating pleco I don't think would taste like lobster

They eat Iguanas and their eggs in The Keys so I don't see why not. Snakeheads and Lionfish are considered a delicacy

Algae is no worse than what lobsters eat in the wild.
