I guess thats the problem, you never know for sure what the stares mean or how they may react when covers go down...

Also, i remember my when i still had my pair of palembangs, the female would always have bite marks on her after mating... not sure if it was part of the mating ritual or what (since never caught them in action), but just thought i’d share...
Afaik in german puffers forums, the breeders treat the bites as normal as they tend to quickly heal. That being said, they usually keep more than 4 puffers together to spread out the aggression (similar to schoutedeni). In fact, I've read from a breeder that even for schoutedeni, groups of under 6 are unlikely to work long term. Even then, I've only seen it done with palembang and the targets (abei, palustris, cochinesnsis) which tend to be less aggressive to each other than your baileyis and suvattiis.
