Just because a snake can bite you, does not mean it is venomous. If I bite you, will you get sick? I am not venomous.

However, if a rattlesnake bites you, you will have trouble. That is because it is venomous. If you eat a rattlesnake, you would be fine.

If a poison dart frog "bites" you, you will not get injected with a venom. If you eat the poison dart frog, you will ingest poison, and have trouble.


In conclusion: for all venomous/poisonous animals:

If it bites to inject the toxin, it is venomous.
If it must be ingested for the toxin to work, it is poisonous.

lol the other day in the forest my friend saw a garter snake and decided to pick it up, not knowing how to handle a snake at all it turns around and bites him in the neck:ROFL:
