So this is in my 29g tank that I started for my sanchezi, and last night and today this peice of bogwood I removed from my African tank has this stuff on it.. I have no idea what it is.... Please inform me..

Parameters are pefect, of course. :)
Temp is @ 80 F
Its not on anything else..
And I removed it last night, scrubed it, and it still has it..

Is this bad or good? Means nothing, is nothing? Just want to know, because I dont want my sanchezi to get sick if this is bad..

Thanks much.

Don't know....reboil it. it looks like a film that had accumulated on the wood and is catching the small practical's floating in the tank . I'll just reboil it after it cycles.

So its just a film, nothing bad or harmful?

I believe it's just mold. This has happened to every piece of wood I've ever had, whether it be Malaysian, African Root, or Spider Wood. It's not harmful and should come off fairly easy.

Thanks, so its not harmful, I won't worry.. Maybe it will go away soon, if not I will clean it more and boil it. Thanks for the posts.

could it be that cailcuim from the salt in the african tank got on the wood and is still on it? or am I totally wrong?

I think your right that in high ph water driftwood or any wood in high ph develops a film which is harmless and easily washed off but looks unslightlty.

The rain water here has a ph of 8.0 and the driftwood I keep outside in pond develops a white film which I just rinse off in hot water in a plastic bin
Now I just leave it as who cares the fish certainly dont and prefer I dont bother their lair
