I'm impressed at your commitment, I wish you good luck. I have always wondered why such an attractive and supposedly mild mannered cichlid is so scarce in the hobby. I wonder if ultimately they prove fragile or squirely or something. The pictures I have seen alone, would justify greater access in the hobby don't you think? I'm thinking people just don't have the natural inclination to wait 4 years for a spawn, fast food hobbyists. I know in my club, we exchange fish faster then you can sneeze. Also, fact that the area of Africa that they are from is not the most stable, now also with the ebola outbreak, who would want to collect there.
