Definitely normal! Mine's hump is almost twice that size and I used to think that his was going to explode too! LOL

It's more of a Male dominance thing than anything else.

I can be red devil with out having a hump ... I have a mate for the RD.. i am just so scared to let them be together.. they were together a few times and then they look like they are into breeding then you leave them and they start fighting.. so i will continue to try but be very careful because i love the both of them..RD"S are so bad at times..
