The best way to sex your fish is to accurately is to vent it. Also, congratulations on the firemouth spawn.

Thats completely wrong. The reason you never see two ebjd pairs is because they are genetically weak and the success of rearing the fry is low. As a result breeders breed ebjd to blue gene jack dempseys which result in 50% ebjd and 50% bgjd. The reason you see more male ebjd and female bgjd is because they need a healthy female that won't get stressed easily from breeding and fry rearing. Since ebjd are so fragile, it wouldn't make sense to put a fragile female through so much stress.

Thanks for clarifying that up for me, I have been told wrong then I guess, looks like I need to educate some people in my town then.
