Well, apparently you can now buy Pangasius hypophthalmus at Petco for $4.99 per baby pet fish or $4.99 per lb. of dinner.
I took this at Trader Joes. On the back it specifies the species as Pangasius hypophthalmus. I knew it was eaten very commonly in Asia, but its the first time I've seen it sold as food here. Wonder if this will slow people down on eagerly buying that baby pet fish for their 10 gallon tank if they come to the realization that it eventually gets big enough to fillet for dinner.....
I prefer mine swimming. I don't think I could look at my fishy swimming around, and explain that the smell of my dinner was a close relative.

I called my husband to ask if he wanted to try it (somewhat jokingly). He was a flat and instant, "No... I don't eat things related to my pets. No."
Okay, I'm sure I just screwed all those fish by putting that in writing....
