It's actually only half of the sign. The other half was nowhere to be found. :ROFL: and it's really stained and gross, it's made out of some kind of layered wood or cloth.

There should be a "Post your animal artifacts" thread. :grinno:

Sometimes it can be. I have Northern Red Salamander preserved in isopropyl. They are very rare around here, so finding it at all was amazing... but where I found it was even more so. After a few days of heavy rainfall, we found it on a rocky trail through the hills in the Greenbelt, surrounded by thick foliage on all sides. We were much higher than any water, and the Salamander was freshly dead with a broken lower jaw and a severed tail. All I can come up with is that a bird plucked him from a swamp and dropped him, and the impact killed him. He sure didnt keep well... he was in such good condition when we found him that I waited until he smelled to preserve him, in hopes he'd wake up, but of course he didnt. He looks really shriveled and washed out now. Shame... good specimen to have, quite the unusual find.
