Looking Back – My top 15 all time favorite cichlids

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Excellent fish and perfect representations of each species. My favorite are the umbee and grammodes, but im a little biased. I also like haitiensis, I wish mine would have made it. Ill try my luck with them again sometime down the road.

I can see why they are Your all time favorites!Really nice collection!Really loving the Festae & Black Nasty!:)
I like both but for me, personality is what sets them apart. I matured Haitiensis is very interactive and outgoing. No fear at all but not a full time glass banger so you you enjoy them much better.

Thank you. I would have placed the umbee at # one but the maintenance part turned me off a little bit. Since it's a bigger fish, I had to work harder to maintain its health. With a Haitiensis, you could get away with a smaller tank. Less water change and hassle, more time to enjoy the hobby. That's my excuse for being lazy sometimes :naughty:

Yeah I know what you mean about umbees and maintenance. My guy is a pig, he'd eat all day if I let him. Currently mine is in a 125 gallon with a fx5 and 2 x AC110s, so the added filtration helps a bit.

This is an excellent thread. Every Sp is shown with great appriciation. You can tell from every picture you have great skills and excellent taste in fish imo. I too have a lot of the same sp but my favorite has to be your Black Nasty. I have never owned one but I love seeing them here and around the site. Your looked like a true beast. Beautiful collection of fish. ( I love the Savini as well I have never been able to raise them with out loosing them) wonderful pictures by the way.

How big it it now? My umbee is with Johnptc right now, lucky bastard is swimming in a 800 gallon tank. I think it's an 800?

Great idea for a thread. Really enjoyed the shots!

That first Midas is my fave, but the hump-headed grammy is close!

Thanks. I have a group of six I'm growing out right now (Midas).

Thank you, It was. Money blinded me to sell it. That was a very stupid decision on my part. Money was gone after a few days.

I'm growing some right now.

As always...amazing collection Gani. I have to agree with the odo being my fave...Your male odo was a beast. Are you keeping any right now?
