Breeding Grammodes (options):

Just the pair in a tank - I successfully bred mine in a 125 g tank (6'). Just make sure to have hiding spots for the female in both corners and one in the middle of the tank.

In a community setting (360 g) - My other pair successfully bred but they were too aggressive for the tank mates so I had to move the pair.

The most success I had was dividing one of my medium size tanks (7'x2'x2'). 2/3 belonged to the pair and 1/3 belonged to the other male. It worked because the aggression from the pair was focused on the other male. I used an acrylic divider to lessen mouth damage and for them to see clearly.

Raising Beani:

I was blessed to have met two hobbyist that brought back new bloodlines into the hobby (Joe and Allan). Allan was the first to bring back some here in SoCal years back and Joe successfully brought back some too. My friend Gary (polomax24) and I had success raising beani in a community setting and as a solo fish as well. In a community setting, the beani has to be the most dominant fish and the tank should be big enough too spread aggression. Gary and I both grew them out in a 240 g tank. With regards to food, Gary fed his with all sorts of pellets and freeze dried krill and he never had issues with "bloat". I fed my beani's hikari bio gold plus, excel and algae wafers. Basically, do not overfeed and tank should be well filtered and aerated. I also never feed after a water change. I wait a day to feed. I feed during day time when they are most active.

^ please explain? I do the same thing, I do it to avoid any ammonia spikes/mini cycle sice I've just introduced chlorine into the tank even though it has been treated. I thought I was the only one, I am very curious to hear your reasoning why?

Almost there brother, thanks. What are you keeping now?
My F2 Midas and a pair of salvini along with all the others in the 125g. Salvini have fry, but the father has developed bloat. Got him in a 10g treating him according to Oddball's recommendations on treatment on his thread. Momma is in the 125g watching the fry, but in their spot she doesn't have much to fear. All the other fish stay away because it is right beside where the Midas sits all the time. She keeps them balled up, but the Midas could care less. Same rules as before. Stay out of the way during feeding and all will be fine. lol

I'd give my left arm for your Grammodes and Beani!

I had almost lost patience with my 8 months old Grammodes, who still looks like a baby at 4", untill i saw yours! Knowing the potential of these fish i just can't give them up

JK and everyone else, why do you have chlorine in your water??? I keep seeing this
