Oh, I was confused too. I just looked up bowfishing on google and it sounds pretty cool.

Cant go with you to far.I use to go carp shooting every spring when I lived in NY.Man I loved it I think my biggest was 45 lbs.I allways wanted to go to Texas for huge gar.Good luck

I agree with you in most cases, I believe it is not practice of good morals to kill something without reason. You can get some good "catfish nuggets" for deep frying off of a carp. and ray is very good on the grill. however the term "regulating numbers" comes into play in sertain bodies of water for some species, and the f&G support this at some locations.
The last time i went in TX, the goal was to rid the carp out of the water body, remember carp, snakehead and some others are ferrel and have a negative affect on our ecosystem in most cases.
I do understand your concern.

if you have no gear for it, it is anywhere from 100$ to about 200$ for a full bow and kit on the ams website (the link is on another page on page one here.
