So I am about to have an empty 75 and think I want to get into a little more aggression. I have almost only ever kept the peaceful species like severum, geophagus and several acara species, and while I love them all, I want something with a little more aggression in my hobby.

Now I want to stick exclusively with South American species. I have a great love for SA cichlids and I want to continue in that way. It has to be a species that I can pair up (I do love to breed) and allow it to live out its life in the 75. There isn't an upgrade planned. I would prefer to be able to reach in and move some stuff around if necessary, so I don't want something that gets insanely aggressive.

I have explored the options of pikes, but am having a real struggle finding something with the color (it's more about patterns and contrast for me that just outright color) of the species available to me. So having some color is a mist, but I'm not looking for anything too crazy in the color department.

Depending on aggression levels, I believe I want the cichlids to end up in the 4-8" so I have room to add dithers and/or target fish if necessary.

Try Krobia Xinguenses, Aequidens Metae, Tahuantinsuyoa Macanzatza (Inca stone fish) I call them T. Mac. or somthing similar along these lines.

I actually have four Krobia I just got from Rapps. Growing them out from 1". The Metae and Incan are a little too mild for what I am looking for. I have lots of peaceful to mildly aggressive fish. Looking to explore the dark side a bit. I know it's limited with me wanting just SA, but I figure someone here can help. :)

I was thinking cichlids but yeah I just got a really nice Ery ery a couple of weeks ago a 75 is great size tank for one of those. I have mine housed in a 90 with a Royal Pleco and a Raphael cat. Some floating plants real or plastic a couple of hiding places and dim lighting your good to go.

An interesting fish, but it's been turned down. My gf says it looks like a sausage with fins. LOL The downside of having a picky other half I'm afraid.

It's looking like I might want to stick with pikes. :/

They remind me of a coelacanth when they cruise the tank or a sausage with fins.............lol. But Hot sausage with the red pepper showing through the sides none of that breakfast stuff!

LOL Unfortunately my gf and I live together. She doesn't take much interest in the hobby, but in have to run new fish by her in case they are ugly.... :(
