smaller channas: channa bleheri( i dont think this will eat mice), channa pulchara, parachanna africana, Channa aurantimaculata, maybe an oscar

i have two oscars right now but im questioning if i should bring them back or not they are so lazy! maybe my water hasnt cycled yet? its a new 55gal i put the filter from a 24gal cycled (i think) tank in it and for now everything seems ok. nitrates and nitrites are up a little (just a tiny bit) and the ammonia is less than 1.0ppm..is it cycled?
