i went through the same question you are (pretty much word for word) i decided on an oscar in hopes that one day it could down a mouse. but i thought about a few green spotted puffers, theyre hard to keep but the chomp at anything they can, they have powerful jaws and take chunks out of their food, so maybe they could take a mouse i have seen them pull a frog apart
i also thought about wolffish but i hear theyre boring as hell if its not feeding time

get a pike or snakehead they have a lot in washington i dont know about where you live
