Looking for catfish idea?

Raphaels, irwinis, and jaguar cats all hide allot. When my 120 was a catfish tank I had all of them (4", 10", 8") and I would litterally never see them. They are cool looking cats but they are never ever swimming around. I'd defenitely get a sun cat. Mine never hides.

Found out the irwini can grow pretty big. I've never saw one grow up to one foot. Anyone ever raise a harlequin lancer catfish?

If your talking about bagroides melapterus, they max out at only 1' so they should do fine in a 120.

ornate pimlodus are cool, some lima shovel nose strains stop at 12inch but its getting the right one... syno decorus are cool and peacful too. good luck. suncats can hit 18 inch btw, mines at 12 inch now

Nice vid and sun cat.

If you want an active cat that you'll actually see and who patrols the tank quite often even with the lights on you'll be hard pressed to beat a Pimelodus ornatus. I love these guys and am always suggesting them to others. Max out at around 11 inches, active and can even be kept in a school and can be taught easily to eat from your hand, relatively easy to obtain. Another possible alternative direction would be Family Mochokidae/Synos. Synodontis decorus is one of my personal faves and grows to around 11 inches and make pretty remarkable display animals in my opinion. Fairly active, beautiful and relatively easy to obtain make this guy a great choice but any in the Syno family can be an excellent choice. I just discovered Japanese Catfish (Silurus asotus). They look like a smaller version of a Wels Catfish (which are one of my favorite species). Looks like they are big (like 3 feet), but probably would average at like 2 ft. They seem to be very common, so maybe they get imported occasionally.
