Actually acrylic baffles can be used. Silicone of course isn't the best choice in adhesives, but Loctite makes several that are excellent. Loctite Stik-N-Seal's bond strength is 900 pounds per square inch. Loctite Household Repair is 566 psi.

Any time Acrylic is way easier to work with too, so I was on a quest to find something that would replace silicone. The Loctite products can also be used to reseal an acrylic tank like you would use silicone in a glass tank.
