Well hoops and LD hit it on the head. HLLE is from sloppy care. You need better h2o quality, and a better diet.

Chooch was named chooch because as my brother was about to pay for it a little girl in the fish store called it choo choo. Like a train. My brother wasnt about to deny a pre-k kid, so he named it chooch on the spot. We are 0% italian. German and Norwegian. :D

Back to the point...my brother got rid of that fish when he was holding it in a 125g, and it was the 6 foot variety, not the 120 box thing. He didnt feel right about holding it in a tank that size. He could have probably kept it, but it deserved more. I have seen the things in hawaii at about the size of a brief case...very impressive.

The maroon clown you see in those pictures used to spit sand at the glass when people entered the fish room. Not a nice guy. Hence the hate. :D

Thanks for the info guys, the only thing is it most be water quality for my cousin. He feeds them veggies on the clip, garlic paste addictive, other foods also he was told a secret ingredient. I can't remember it meant for him to crush a certain pill that is made for people and mix it in the fish food. I'll find out tomorrow exactly....

Also Fleshy lol at least germany is close to italy lol....I've been called chooch which means lazy I think or jack***. Also my cousin said something that he may try to sell the tang guessing he is reffering to big fish = more $...We went through this in a thread, that involves origins and rarity...

Yeah, chooch was awesome. That clownfish did at one point decide he owned the whole 125. I will have another sailfin someday, but not until I can put it in a 8x4x3 ish tank... When he got to 6 inches the 125 was too small. He is still in a 300 display in Southwest FL. Tangs are very prone to HLLE, good nutrition is the most important variable in preventing this.

I have had the best luck with feeding Nori with selcon, and getting them on New life with Thera A.

ok ... Lighting question .... sailfin tang answers... if only we had some way to start individual threads for different questions.... maybe we could even get some sort of clickable button to start new threads....

... good info though...

LOL

The problem with the fish is that with HLLE it is virtually worth nothing. Even if it is a "Show Sized" fish. People dont want a sick, and potentially scarred fish.

I agree Flesh, I would not pay for it. However, I would gladly take the fish to give it a better home and try to get it healthy. That will most likely be the best bet with this fish. Getting it to someone that can care for it long term, giving it a chance to survive.

Also, garlic additives are not necessary in the aquarium trade. They have not been proven to add an benefit. It isn't like fish have garlic to add to their food in the ocean they came from. It is just one of the many additives that are a money grab by companies. With that said, the one use I could see would be to soak food the fish is already eating and new food you want the fish to eat. I think this already can be done with a Selcon soak.

I agree with that hoops! :D

Havent once used garlic...I do love my selecon though. I think that selecon actually attracts my fish to food somewhat by itself. You will find that fishier smelling foods often times attract fish, and selecon is that very much so.

Sail fins, especially the red sea ones, are absolutely stunning when in good heath, and being fed the right stuff.
