I live in Arizona and would like to have a garage aquarium. In the summer my garage is in the 100s so I assume water in a large tank would atleast get into the 90s. Is there any fish that can live happily in this temp? I'm wondering if a local fish in Az could such as bluegill? We have bluegill living in very small warm ponds here but I don't know what they can survive. Any suggestions?

Some natives would probably be your best bet, however you should try to do something about excessive heat like a bit of current and perhaps some barn fans blowing over the top? Or even a cold water drip system to keep the temps down a bit

I could definitely do fans. Cold water dripping would be hard because I can't even get cool water out of my tap in the summer lol.

That's why I was hoping blue Gill would work since they live in ponds here but everything I read says they like 80°.

How are your night time temperatures is the real question??? If it gets in the 90-100 in the day and 60-70 at night that could cause stress on whatever fish you are trying to keep. Bad Alagae can tend to thrive in hot water as well so wouldn’t want that to happen.

The temps stay in n the 100s day and night for about 4 months a year. During the winter months it's mostly in the 50-60 range and I can use a heater to keep temps stable. The winter months are no problem because I can keep it warm, just need to find a fish that likes hot water basically

You do realize there are hundreds of people in Phoenix area with fishrooms in their garage right? Just do a craigslist search for African Haps and you will see at least 20 of them. Ask some local guys. Go to the Drywash meeting's (2nd thursday of month I think) or ARK meetings. Heck even the AAPE (planted hobbyist's) meet 3rd Sunday of month I think? Ask them what they are doing. Very hard water in Phoenix, lots of African Haps and Mbuna.

There is a really good Discus hobbyist in Phoenix, he only has to heat his tanks (in garage) during the winter. Keeps them in the 90's most of the time.

Ya I keep africans myself but was unaware they could live well in the 90s. I don't know any other Az local fish keepers Unfortunately and have never heard of the meetings you mentioned.

There is genus of small Tilapine cichlids that come from the soda lakes of Africa (Lake Natron is one) where temps are almost always in the 90s. They will "not" take the winter cool down though.
Here is one species of the genus Alcolapia alcalicus that I kept.

female holding

they graze on algae
